to clean or not to clean

right got the engine torn down and found a split in the drivers side head gasket but the liners are looking good will put a straight edge over them tommorow.But what i want to know should i clean all the heads of all the old oil and make em like new or just clean the gunk outIf there cleaned properly will it have any bad effects when its all back together

Get em spotless. any contaminants between the gaskets could wreck all ya hard work rebuilding the fooker.

just thinking that people say when you do an oil change on an old engine that you shouldnt use engine flush as it removes gunk that might be helping so thought i would check first

get them skimed it worth it
