Evening all.
Rebuilding twin leading brake set up on the front of my late series 3 88.
The snail cam kit came with silver and dark coloured snails. Does it matter which ones are used on the 11 inch tls set up?

Yes, mine has the oil catcher ring. I'll get some pictures up later.
I believe that the post 80 swb and lwb share the same front axle so I think you should also have the catcher :sly:
Is there a technique to get these bastards together without stripping the thread out if the post thing?
Getting the snail over the shoulder straight is a right pain!![]()
Yup, snapped a bolt myself. Bits went everywhere! Fortunately had a few spares...
I read an excellent how to on the LR 4x4 forum, apparently the shoes have to go on a certain way as they are slightly different and if you get it wrong they won't adjust properly, also had all the measurement from the snails to make sure its correct, i will print off the piece and double check mine before they go on. let me know if you want the link, couldn't get me a picture of the oil catcher as thats all I'm waiting on for final assembly.

Good to know. I'll double check my pads in line with what James has added.
In terms of the oil catcher, I think it's just the ring that goes over the stub axles and attaches to with the back plate, I think you put up a photo of it previously. That's all I'll be able to take a pic of.![]()
