P38A 'tis me again! Heated seats question...

Is is a simple procedure to get to the seat heaters please?
Had a 2000 (W) DHSE yonks ago (2005) and the dealer had to replace both passenger and driver seat heaters under warranty.
When we got it back the difference was amazing...arse, upper thighs and back up to thoracic region toasty warm...AAAHHHHHHH!
Having a very bad back and permanent sciatica down both legs, I really need to get at least the drivers seat sorted ASAP.
Already checked out all visible fuses under the bonnet and under driver seat. Lots of oxidation carefully removed yesterday...no wonder I have a bad back!

You have to remove the seat and remove the cover. Pretty simple but not five minutes of a job. Element snaps usually mid point of lower squab just needs a bit of Teflon coated wire soldering in and heat shrink to cover joints.

Whilst I'm doing that, are passenger and driver seat squabs interchangeable? The drivers one has a soggy bottom (bit like the driver) and I'd like to swap if possible.

The seats have to come out then the leather squab has to come off, the seat not working is usually just a broken wire were it bends.
one of the guys on here did a write up iirc think it was @biketeacherdave or may have been @ukadamwest they also put in higher temp sensors so well toastie.

It's harder, but can be done without taking the seats out. The hog rings can be a struggle.

Hog rings?
Are any special tools required to deal with them...or just a bit of cunning/brute force/common sense?
Happy with cunning/brute force, but never had much common sense...but I love my P38, so why state the obvious, eh?

Big pliers and/or a strong metal hook.

Just look up my old post you will find a how to guide, cut the hog rings off replace with cable ties

I have higher temp sensors.. makes a difference.. but I have to admit.. @biketeacherdave fif mine.. I made the tea and watched mostly

Need to fix mine..
