Tired Window Tints

The windows tints on my Rangie are looking very tired. I am unsure if the tints were an extra when purchased new or a DIY job after purchase.Either way they are scratched and flaking.

Before I spend loads on products trying to find something that will remove the tints - does anyone know on this forum the best and easiest way to to clean the windows back to clear.

Thanks Sean, I clicked on your link and had a little giggle to myself when I saw the price of the steam cleaner. I have been quoted £300 for removal and re tint, however I thought I might be able to save a few quid doing it myself.

Or you could also use you wifes hair drier which has precisly the same effect. Softening the plastic coat so it can be peeled or scraped off.

maybe he hasn't got a wife and needs an excuse to buy a steam cleaner

heat it up with hair dryer peel it off and if any glue left on window u can use a little petrol on a cloth wipe it and the old glue will come off thats how i did mine .BUT REMEMBER NO SMOKING

Hair dryer, will remove tint as stated. If if that tint from halfords etc should just peel off though. Glue is water based on cheaper tints so should wash off with soapy water.
If profesional tint solvents will remove glue. Petrol (smelly) thinners (even worse) white spirit (not too bad) TFR (low smell but you have to work harder) methilated spirit (gives me a head ache) Best one is lighter fluid. But keep all away from trim and carpets

Thanks chaps. Tints came off easily with a hairdrier. Used a product called 'Sticky Off' that softened the glue and then used stanley blade as a scraper. As New... thanks
