I've sold a couple of vehicles on eBay (UK and Aus), the ending time of
the auction can be important - my own preference is a Sunday evening, with
a ten day duration to drum up trade.
Use the tiny.url website to make the eBay page useable without being
ten miles long.
Usenet ads on appropriate groups using the tiny.url gets a fair amount of
response. Dont limit yourself to English language groups as there are plenty
of people around the world with money to buy some strange things. I sold
a LR capstan winch to Brasil from Australia!! a bullbar to Germany and a
swag of stuff into the USA and Canada. An overseas buyer can add a
15% to 25% premium to your price.
Dont cross post as this sometimes gets some ****s spincters twitching. But
a flame war can also provide some excellent extra posting bandwidth as
others see why there are 50 posts on an "FA - Landrover" posting.
Provide a few links to international vehicle transport companies so that
buyers
can get quotes themslves - provide weights and dimensions as well.
Be honest - show the bad as well as the good.
Offer to deliver at a fair price subject to upfront payment.
Get a vehicle condition report done (AA/RAC) and offer a copy for five
quid - refundable to the buyer. For buyers who cant view the vehicle
easily it opens up a whole new market for you.
Don't accept Paypal - ever, never, dont even think about it. Tie a knot
in your undies so you dont forget!!
