Should I re paint this Range Rover

Back from visiting so on with some work.

Fitted the exhaust system, well started

Struggling like feck to get the other side in

That's as far as I got. Think I need to come up but need to jack the rangy up a bit to get the right angle. Help required with that.

As the sun was shining I painted the wing supports and fitted the side that the exhaust is on

Put plenty of Anchor Wax over everything and fitted it when wet so hopefully there will be a water resistant seal to deter the rot worm in the future.

With the wiring on its way I finished the plumbing for the fuel system

I clipped the fuel lines up and tidied the other pipework up so once the wiring and exhaust system is in the floor WILL go down
 
With the help of Djdomnyp I got the other header on.

Did have to remove the steering damper, the clutch pipe and jack the chassis up to give more room above the axle.

Also fitted the front of the slam panel and the other wing mount

So after 3 weekends and explaining to the insurance company why I happened to right off a combo van the Disco is back on the road :D

This afternoon I managed a few hours on the Rangy. Just a few little jobs done today.

I repaired the expansion bottle bracket so I can fit a plastic expansion bottle.

Not easy with the ARC welder as the metal was getting thin so blew a couple of holes in it.

Bolted the Radiator in so I can figure out where to put the gearbox radiator

Bit more done today :D

Awaiting the arrival of Killajoules I tested the old air con fans before I welded the radiator brackets

With them working I made the brackets, but forgot to take a picture :mad:

I fitted the other mud flap bracket while the paint was drying on the new brackets, a lot of brackets going on today :rolleyes: then herd a TD5 pull up :)

We pushed the rangy into the sun so we could open the doors to finish the steel parts of the floor

Then aligned, sealed and fixed the floor and seat boxes

We got all excited that we were getting close to looking like a Range Rover again so put the lights on :p

After pushing the rangy back into the workshop slightly to the right so all doors can open I fitted the expansion bottle

Just the support bracket to make and it's fixed :) bolted the screen wash bottle in. Soon be on the wiring :eek:
 
wow really enjoyed this thread read it all this last two days, i have just about completed a 200tdi and manual box fit into my classic, some said it should go straight in but hey thats not my luck, it had a 3ltr turbo perkins engine through an auto box when i bought it in november, only done 68k from new, so i am hoping that i have made the right decision to out it, for the 200tdi, anyway looking forward to seeing the end result of yours.
 
Cheers Peter. I have mine booked into the ALRC Nationals in May so needs to be on the road by then. I'm also contemplating buying a original 200tdi Rangy for my daily. I never thought the work I have done to this would be to this extent when I started it two years ago but I'm glad I have done what I have to it

I fitted the oil cooling radiator onto the fans

Nice snug fit I loosely fitted the pipes but will fill them with oil before tightening everything up

The bracket is finished on the expansion bottle and I fitted the pipe to the radiator

I attacked the tunnel cover with a grinder so I can change gear when it's running

I wiggled the heater box back into the dash, I can't quite get it lined up so that can stay floating until I have a hand.

Don't know what I will do next week as I am collecting the 200tdi classic I bought [emoji12]
