timing marks

my series 3 petrol has the three toothed fixed bracket but instead of a pulley with a single mark it has a later type with 5 marks, -6 to +6 degrees. How do I read it? Can I treat the centre mark on the pulley as if it were the single mark that should be there?

Now this is 12 yrs ago but today ive stumbled over the same prob.
Hayes is useless. so totally useless
Did you ever solve this? I just went for the middle-left but its worse than ever hardly drives

middle will be tdc but if using a strobe it will want to be 6 btdc
