Good morning,
I have bought a powerspark dizzy and leads etc,i was waiting for a chance to fit it and luckily my old girl started misfiring on overrun yesterday,
I was half way through strobing it ( '69 2a/3.) and came to a bit of a problem IMG_20200808_113108.jpg
,I have a timing mark pointer which is not the same as in any search i have done, any info into the marks is most welcome,i have it running ok by ear,i am going to remove the fanbelt to strobe it after reading other threads,
Thanks

It looks like you have it timed on 15% before TDC, large pointer to the right should be TDC easily checked with plugs out and valves on number four just rocking,
If you are not sure how accurate your marking are ? make up your own With a 360 degree scale piece of card reference to your TDC mark,

To be honest, unless your engine is low mileage and tip top, the timing marks are not that useful, my advice to anyone timing an old engine with some slop in its various moving parts is to time it be ear. I know others may disagree and I respect their right to do so.

I agree with you, time it by ear. The timing marks give you a good starting point and a point of reference as you adjust/try different settings. IIRC the timing was TDC for 90 octane fuel. Unleaded is 95 octane and burns slower so requires a little advance to gain optimum burn.
