Right o, left the timing light in the house and had a play. Kept getting air bubbles in the fuel filter so I've had a run out in the jeep to halfords for new length of hose. Fuel filter still seems to not fill up though.....

Maybe it's just me....
Any way, I've adjusted the timing a fair bit and it seems to run way better so thanks everyone for the advice.
I'll see how well it starts from cold tomorrow

Don't worry about the fuel filter not filling up. tis normal!:):):):)

Next time I’m under the bonnet of the other motor I will find the inline fuel filter. You can take apart and wash them out
This also does not fill up even with a fuel pump always running.

now you need to take it for a run and fully open the throttle to find a flat spot or pinking.find a hill near you

I need to sort the last couple of jobs and get it sold :)

It's stopped back firing on the over run anyway
.....and if it WAS running on, when you turned the key off, (bit old nowadays but you never know), it should stop doing that once it's retarded enough.
But others will tell you there is more to running on than simply being too far advanced, and they'd be right.
Carbon deposits for one.
Anyway, glad it is sorted out!:):):)
