Going to change the timing belts and water pumps on the missus and daughters Ford Ka's. Whilst searching for the parts online I find that the water pumps come in two diameters and I won't know which one until the old ones come out. Not a problem but means I need to source the parts locally so's I can go get the new parts same day as I take the old bits out. As I won't be able to order online and have parts delivered in advance I am restricted in choice of brands to what I can get locally. So looks like Dayco belts and Circoli water pumps. Never used these brands before, anyone got good or bad experience of these? Ta in advance.

Dayco is fine, decent enough quality belts. Circoli is a pattern part brand, i'd certainly not risk using them for a critical part like the water pump.

I'd buy both varieties of pump from an OEM manufacturer in advance then just send back the one you don't use - got to drive to ECP after all, so just substitute the drive to the post office instead!

Thanks for that info. Bought Dayco belts and tensioners, not got the pumps yet. (Other jobs keep getting in the way of cars at the mo). Will look for oem or genuine pumps.

Not the fastest for dispatch / delivery but i find mister-auto sometimes has a blinding array of OEM options (such as Pierburg, Valeo, Bosch), usually good prices - normally where i find good oem brand filters for the landy and oem brands for my econobox

We use Circolli water pumps all the time.......not had any issues yet......... If your KA is a 1.4 and the same engine fitted to late Fiestas the water pump isn't driven by the timing belt

No, 2 x petrol 1.25's one 2010 and one 2012.
Ah.....been a while since I replaced a timing belt on a 1.25 engine......not sure if the water pump is driven by the timing belt........could let you know Monday evening though........my timing belt book is at work

It is. Its the 1242cc engine, not the "old"1.25. Got the haynes bible so it must be right :D. Same engine as fiat 500 (Fiat 169A4000) (as I found out when a new cog box was needed for one of them last year). Oh, and got the timing fixing / setting tools as well, cost about £50 but figured that and the cost of two sets of cam belts n tensioners and cooling pumps would be about half the cost of a garage doing them, and I would know the quality of the parts fitted.

In that case the water pump is driven by the back of the alternator belt.............as a matter of interest dont be tempted to take a short cut and not slacken the camshaft pulley bolts...........if you do take the short cut the car will intermittantly stall and allow a day to do it as this is your first one

@windblower We had a late model KA in today...........and it has a Fiat engine in ........with a timing belt driven water pump ....... I stand corrected and owe you an apology sir

No worries. Haven't done the belts yet, as always something else more urgent keeps cropping up. Which size pump did you fit (assuming you fitted one)? apparently there are 2 sizes.

It wasn't in for a belt , just an interim service
