Will need to order a timing belt kit this year for my 300Tdi .
there are two kits available.
up to serial no VA and from serial no VA.

my number is a TA series built July 96.

Is there a reason i cannot fit the latest kit, difference seems to be part nos for tensioner and idler are different.

relying on the experts on this forum for guidance.

thanks in advance

you want the later one ,its the better of the 2 as guides for belt are on the crank pulley and not the tensioner as earlier kit ,its better for belt if guides are on the driver sprocket

JAMES, thanks for the quick reply. The timing belt was changed by the importer in Dec 2004, when I purchased the Disco. I have done 58000 miles since then and all on roads, with a few thousand towing miles over the 7 years. I usually order all my parts from Paddocks and will get an up to date kit ordered soon.
Thanks again

Hello Jamesmartin,
update to above,
Ordered very latest kit from Paddocks, whom over the years i have found extremely good, and took to garage to be fitted.
Neither the pulley or the tensioner in the latest kit has a collar.
Pulley LHV100150
Tensioner LHP100860
anyway to get vehicle on road again, fitted new belt and pulley, examined old tensioner , only done 60000 miles since fitted and looked ok, fingers crossed.
Have emailed Paddocks with this info also and await reply.
will keep you updated with any reply i get
cheers
