Hey guys.

Me again

Err.... My 95 300tdi disco 1 is in need of a timing belt change. Doing it for peace of mind as I have no idea when it was last done. And would rather it was done anyway as it'll get abused off road. :p

But here's the problem..... All websites seem to go off chassis number when it comes to which kit I need. Plan on changing belt, idler, tensioner.

BUT.

The engine isn't the original so how do I know which I need? (can supply engine number if needed.) As far as I can see bearing in mind the aircon pump is in the way I cannot see a yellow mark on the timing case which would suggest it's not had the mod done.

So am I safe ordering the early type kit or would I better off ordering the later type?

Reading crap off of Google is just confusing the matter even more. :(

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.
Robb.

mod is only swapping crank pulley and tensioner about £30 for the 2, plus belt err1092(crank has the guides rather than tensioner on modded engines)

Hi robb,

I was in the same situation about the belt choice and from what information i gathered i should be able to buy the modified kit with the idler and tensioner and fit that no matter which is on it now, im sure someone will correct me if i've taken that up wrong, hopefully before i buy it too

Thanks gents. :)

So if I order the crank pulley lh100660, the later type tensioner lhp100860 and the belt err1092. That should be all I need.

Will also order etc8560. The idler. Oh and the timing cover gasket. :)

Again thanks just wanted clarification just in case I buggered the whole engine up.

if your getting new idler lhv100150 and dont use the washer as used behind earlier idler

Many thanks James! :)

Will do just that. Will order all the bits now so I can get on with the job next weekend.

Not looking forward to it though as I've not done one before but I've managed most other things so hope I'll be OK.

If I get stuck or bugger it up I'll be back to pick your brains. :D
