hello all,

need your help again. I am about to buy a lift kit for my toy (1990 Range Rover Classic 3.9) and would like some guidance on what to get.

I have been onto MM4x4 and seen this and wonder if its any good:

Britpart Gaz Suspension 2 inch Lift Kit

Will 2" lift be sufficient or should I consider 3" as I am spending money? I was told that a 3" lift would require me to buy trailing arms radius arms and other not very cheap parts whereas a 2" lift would need me to just buy the springs and shocks.

If you guys could provide me with a shopping list (on a budget) that would be great. I expect there is an element of getting what you pay for but I don't have endless amounts of money to throw at it of course.

As always, many thanks guys :)

James

well i live local to mm, when i got there i wanted the terrafirma kit but they never had it in stock at the time so i had the procomp shocks and bp heavy duty springs(wish i never loads of people on hear having the same problem as me with sagging springs) and i know buster bus had problems with his shocks after a new replacment set hes gone back to stock set up i think) if i were you id go terrafirma springs and shocks great value for money id say :D

I see, so would these do or are they too cheap?

plus what else do I need?

Bump stops
radius arms
trailing arms?

I cant seem to find a one stop anwswer to this question on any forum!

All you need is

2inch shocks
2inch springs
extended bumpstops
extended brake hoses

some people say you dont need the bumpstops/hoses but it stands to reason that you need them

i got terrafirma, good stuff

id stay away from that package has bp springs (there **** trust me:mad:)

Terrafirma 2 Inch Lift Kit - Heavy Duty Disco 1 Defender 90 Classic Range Rover

get that kit if i were you all terrafirma select the duty you want

as my defender is now i have a 2" lift with no other mods and all in all it drives as it did standard apart from when i get to about 60(not very often) the steering is a bit vague but im used to it now tbh dont even reliese it,

but when i get time and money ile get some double cranked trailing arms(as the large round bushe is not sitting square no more)

and either some cranked radiaus arms or some castor corrected bushes

i also need to change my bump stops when i get chance

depending also what stiffness springs you get you might not need the bumpstops and extended hoses, i have the softest weight springs so they compress a lot under articulation which stiffer springs wont

Britpart are ****e, stay well clear of all there stuff!

Make sure that what you by doesnt come as britpart without you knowing too!

They hid some britpart bits on paddocks and I didnt know till it turned up!

they come in 3 diferent weights

light - standard weight vehicle and maybe a little more
medium - modified vehicles with HD bumpers, winch etc
heavy - fully loaded expedidion vehicles weighing like 3 tonnes etc..

ive got the light weight one i would stay clear of the heavy weight it will be too stiff

I currently have gaz shocks and Bearmach HD springs on my truck (well supposedly) Purchased from MM about 2 years ago. The shocks are not that good TBH. SPrings are ok though. Gives about 1.5 inch lift over standard. And a bloody hard ride. Changing shocks for Decarbon next weekend.
