ticking noise

Folks, I have noticed a noise coming from the area of the fuse box in the lower right hand side of the dash.

The noise is a tick tock, and it is obviously something to do with the wipers. If i turn the intermittent wiper onto a quicker cycle, the tick tock noise increases in frequency. If I turn it back to a slower cycle, the noise decreases in frequency. The wipers work fiine and I get the noise when they are turned off. Is this something that I have just noticed and has been going on for ever, or is it something I need to sort.
