Hi Guys
Not sure that this is just a Landy issue, I have recently noticed that when I put my foot down on the pedal there seems to be a dead zone/delay before the power kicks in I would say around 2 to 3 seconds which seems an eternity when driving and wondered if anyone knew the possible cause of this?
Thanks in advance

what engine is it ..
according to your profile .. it's a FL2 TD4 ?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
on the FL1 td4/m47r that symptom might indicate a faulty maf sensor
and / or a dirty air-filter ..
or possibly a very hot air intake temp.
on the FL2 .. not sure of the actual motor setup .. however they are known to
get sticking throttle plate issues .. ( no throttle plate on the FL1 td4 )
what can happen on the FL1 td4 .. be that .. on a hot day ..
the air intake temp rises when there's not much airflow thru the intercooler
the result be that go-pedal initial response suffers a bit .. until the air intake cools down
heat-soak from a hot engine bay does not help ..
i.e. hot air being less dense than cold air ..
the ecu calculates available air mass from the air intake temp sensor and maf sensor
and will only permit fuel flow relative to the air mass
( that's to avoid over fuelling that would cause black exhaust smoke ..
( i.e.emissions
with the FL1 td4 .. the motor won't respond untill there is sufficient air flow across the maf sensor
that results in hesitation when the driver puts their foot down sharpish ..
i.e. high fuel demand from the driver .. but ecu sais 'no' as there's not enough airflow ..
when the airflow increases across the maf sensor .. then the engine responds ..
the above realy relates to the lower rpm range
'cause when the rpm are climbing then there's more airflow across the maf sensor
anyhow .. just bumping your post ..
so hopefully someone who be familiar with the FL2 td4 engine will respond
Thank you I will take a look at the filter first over the weekend and if this is more of a built in safety issue to stop over fuelling I assume it is ok to not worry too much?
well .. i don't know much about the FL2 Td4 engine ..
only that it's a common rail diesel engine
and they all have similarities ..
but they have their differences as well
there are a few FL2 owners on this site ..
so hopefully they will see your post ..
my FL1 td4/m47r (bmw) engine would get the same symptom in the past
but .. i've modified it in order that it doesn't happen ..
( except when the air filter needs changing .. or the maf sensor needs replacing )
as there aren't many FL2 owners here .. you could try the FL2 forum site ..
here :
and i just saw this that may help
