Hi,

I have the HDC/TC/ABS warning light issue but it is quite random when it happens. Restarting the car resets the lights and I have lived with it for a couple of years, although it has been getting slightly more frequent over the past year. I have a nanocom (NANOCOM - Land Rover Defender and Discovery diagnostic system) that tells me it is a shuttle valve electrical fault.

I thought I would see if changing the brake fluid (which was really old and dirty) may be enough to clear it up. I also used the power bleed and abs bleed options to ensure I bled all circuits. However the three amigo's now come on as soon as I use the brake .

I am thinking either the change in brake fluid has just made the problem more prevalent or I have cocked up the bleeding!

I don't want to replace the modulator unless I have to as they are about £1500 (although I would buy one from a breakers for a couple of hundred).

Anyone have any thoughts before I go to the breakers?

I thought I would post the progress on this issue in case anyone else ends up in the same situation!

The reason the three amigo's came on immediately after depressing the brake pedal is that I did not exercise the modulator during the bleed process. I just used the pedal. I used a feature of the nancom device (NANOCOM TD5 diagnostic tool) to exercise the modulator. This gave a really firm pedal and the three amigo's went back to being intermittent.

I purchased a shuttle valve repair kit (SW0500030) from the local Land Rover dealership but this made no difference whatsoever!

So I gave in and purchased a modulator unit from a breakers for around £250. Fitted it and have not seen the problem since!

I did find a company that did recon units at half the price of a brand new modulator - http://www.bba-reman.com/catalogue/DetailedProduct.aspx?DetailedProduct=464

Hope this helps someone!
