just bought a 4.0l thor engine for rebuilding into my 4.6lgems. the thor one has top hats fitted i think. the liner looks almost 5 mm thick unless its just because its a thor?i noticed the crank sensor is totally different its a lot bigger on thor engine and on quick look its like there is a weld holding it in place on flywheel side(not yet removed flywheel so hard to say),but on the gems its like a big core plug.is it possible to fit the gems parts into the thor block or have i just bought a totally useless block?

if i remember correctly they are different size sensors, the engines are the same as far as i can tell!!

you might be aswell trying to adapt the wiring!!

you have to change the crank sensor and the crank cog different no of teeth from memory there is a thread on here somewhere with it all so try a search I also reused the sump from the gems the thor is different

the sump on the thor is alluminium, gems one is steel,by changing the sump will i have to change oil pick up aswell so it matches the sump?the flywheel that is on it will have to come off anyway as it was from a manual, mine is auto.i hope the sensors will change over ok,do you guys rekon it has top hats with the liners being about 5 mm thick?when i done the heads on my 4.6 i think the liners were only about 1-2mm thick.dont know if this is just because its a thor engine?were they not modified in some way to stop liners slipping?thanks guys
