Hi, welcome to the forum :)

What Landy do you have? If you have a problem with it, the best place is to to one of the specific subforums on here, lots of experience in the relevant forums :)

Series Land Rovers - Land Rover Zone

Defender 90 / 110 / 130 - Land Rover Zone

Land Rover Discovery - Land Rover Zone

Land Rover Freelander - Land Rover Zone

Range Rover - Land Rover Zone

It's an intermittent fault, think it a throttle position sensor but never seems to do it when at the dealers ! They are having back for the third time next week :(
Has anyone one else had a similar problem ?

Why do you think it's that? Is it hesitating? Idling rough? Engine light coming on? Have they checked it for you yet or is that what they're doing next?

My defender has a split personality ? Since I bought it new in October 2014 it's had an intermittent fault that the dealer has failed to cure:mad:
It seems that the throttle position sensor has good days and bad days ? On a good day it is fine but on a bad day it's a pig to drive ! The symptoms are~
Lack of power, delayed throttle response this can result in rough gear change and a rougher engine note ? The first time it went back to the dealer they told me the problem was the snorkel ? This is a genuine land rover part fitted by them from new ! Next time I left it with them for two weeks and when I got it back it seemed ok but soon started playing up so it's going back next week and just wondered if anyone has had a similar problem ?

Hmmm weird! I got mine in October last year too and it seems to be ok so far...

What did they say was up with the snorkel to cause those symptoms then?!!

Hope you get it sorted, what a pain in the bum :(

If you're on Facebook, there is group for Pumas you could join and post in there... Everyone is quite helpful :)

They said the snorkel was restricting the air flow and took
It off and surgested I try a non genuine snorkel ?
The service manager even printed a list of non gen options!
This was quickly dropped when I pointed out that they
Fitted it and it was covered by the warranty !!

If the engine note changes, it's unlikely to be the throttle position sensor IMO. I suspect the EGR valve is sticking open. Have they actually run diagnostics? There should be a fault recorded.
Oh, I own a Transit but with the earlier engine:)
Go look on one of the Transit forums, lots of stuff about EGR valves on there.

When they had it for two weeks they ran a diognostic test
But didn't show any faults ? Told me they had changed a
Few things and I have to say it was good for 6 weeks
Until it started playing up again :( that's when they told me
They had only tried different parts but put the old ones
Back on !

There is always one that seems to cause a problem, that even the main dealers can't fix!
Some years ago my old boss bought a new landy and it spent more time going back to the dealer than we actually used it! In the end he changed it for another one, which gave no problems at all. so good luck!:rolly:

Well, it's not likely to be the snorkel unless it has something flapping about inside that closes off the air, even then it would only show when the engine/turbo is pulling lots of air.
The EGR valve has feedback so cannot just be disabled as far as I know without a re-map. However, EGR valves do cause problems such as you have.

Spoken to a different dealer today and they had a much better attitude
To my frustrations and asked me to swing by so the can plug it in and
Check for faults before we start the customer complaints process :)
Thing is I'm not good at complaining but this is starting to P##s me off!

Complaining in a calm way is the only way to get results sometimes.:)
