Hi all,

bad day today, previous post about two flat tyres, this one about a leaking pipe.

Mechanic took off front right wheel to check puncture and I noticed a leak, but I am unsure what it is. Please could someone tell me? :) I suspect it is an ACE component?

1. - Is it an urgent repair?
2. - Can it be something I could fix myself with lay-mans tools? (I don't have much experience but reckon I could do an easy repair as long as I don't need specialised tools)
3. - what spare parts do I need and how much should it cost?

Thank you very much for any insight or help you can offer :)

Im pretty sure if you zoom in on that pic you can see that its the pipe the the left hand side of the ACE actuator. The rest of the pipe looks in reasonable nick. Is therea place close to you who make up hydraulic hoses? Your easiest fix would be a short hydraulic hose with 10mm compression fittings on each end. Cut the bad section of pipe in and fit the hose. Im sure you can find places online who make hoses to spec.

Really could do with giving it a good clean up ,so you can see how bad the pipe is , also have you looked to see how low the fluid level is

Vanmancan - haven't checked yet as I only noticed it yesterday afternoon. To be honest the steering has felt jerky recently so I am probably losing fluid.

Do you know if I can top up with any power-steering fluid or must I use something specific? I'm in Slovakia and LR parts aren't as easy to come by as when back in the UK.

I've been searching around the web and have found an ACE removal kit for £240 exVAT. The leak above is the ACE I think so should I get it fixed or do away with ACE completely? No warning light has come up...would a leak trigger a light?

I'm also thinking of getting rid of the air suspension and going for heavyduty springs front and rear...I just dread the thought either air or ACE will die at the least convenient time. Air is currently making the car unevenly raised which is quite annoying.

Thoughts?
