When I didn't spend enough money in the first place buying my 200tdi, one of the many many things that didn't work was the oil pressure light.

Anyway the spade was broken off the oil pressure switch so I fitted a new one. I was hoping I had a faulty switch so fitted another new one but ,oh dear, once the engine has warmed up the oil light is firm on any any speed below 30mph in either 4th or 5th.

The engine sounds fine and runs sweet but...as per the title.

It has been suggested that I fit a pressure gauge but can 2 switches be wrong?

Checked the oil pressure bypass isnt sticking?
May be as simple as a broken spring.

Now a glimmer of light :)

Please tell me where to look for this possible broken oil pressure bypass spring?

Nice colour 90 by the way ;)

Surely it can't be the engine that's knackered? If there was no oil pressure at 30mph it wouldn't last five minutes, it would sieze....or at the very least would sound like somebody with a hammer was trying to get out of the engine.
And the turbo would have failed by now!

I agree with all you say. Gonna change the spring but feel that with no pressure it's already too late. Engine still runs and sound fine
