I have a Land Rover 90 on a 'D' plate. it costs me roughly 50 kwid to fill the tank and Im getting around 200 miles from a full tank. there are no apparant fuel leaks. Is this normal? if not what kind of miles should I be getting from the 2.5 NAS Diesel. its the original engine with only 90k on the clock.

Help please!!!

I believe the 2.5 N/A engine is specified to do between 18-22 mpg at best from what I read up, so the figures you say roughly work out as that.

yer i think i get 230 out of mine. maybe 240. depends how you drive it and where you drive it. i suggest you moderate your throttle foot and not deck it. it still travels at the same speed but uses less fuel!

If you really REALLY get the timing set spot-on for THAT engine (not just the standard timing method which is dismal) and set the injector pressures dead-on, you may get it up to about 30 mpg.

There are threads here for doing this.

i get about that outta my td5 costs me £60 quid a week to travel 300 miles 50 a day to work n back

Last time I did the calculation, I was getting 28 mpg up hill and down dale in North Yorkshire. About 5mpg worse than an old clio 1.8 rsi thrashed about town and much less stressful.

I get between 24 and 30.06 mpg with my N/A, around 26 on average. Like Griff said, if you keep lifting your foot steadily until you hear your engine quieten down but the speed keeps up, you'll save a fair bit of fuel over the week. Check the air filter to make sure that it is not gunked up / soaked in oil etc.
