Series 2 Thinking of buying a series 2A, any advice please ?

I thought I'd always be a diesel man anorl but the petrol is just so quiet

If set up well the petrol engine should run sweet and smooth. At that price you have the makings of a classic landy that will accrue in value. Comments above on the structural condition are key i.e. the chassis and bulkhead. All the other peripherals including suspension and drive train have spare parts and are fixable. If you set this up in bronze green with a canvass tilt n good condition it'd deffo increase in value. If I had the money I'd buy too!

thanks for the advice, it's back in his hands at the moment.
if this falls through i may have to drag the mk1 escort out from under the bramble bush, i think most of it is still there ....

MK 1 might be a nice resto as well!

Used to have a really early one, it was a real classic. 1100, drums all round, red with the black vinyl roof. About a 73 IIRC.

Almost the same as mine although I swapped out the front drums for discs, mine is a K Reg two door red with a dented in roof from the local kids jumping on it until nature took over and hid it under some brambles

Similar IIRC. Cortina had a bigger, and to my mind, not so elegant, bodyshell.
Engine was same 4 pot in line, dont think Cortina had the 1100, just 1.3 and 1.6 I think. Trans was much the same too. Similar styling and internal trim as well.

They are not a million miles apart, i'm no expert though but do remember wanting and nearly buying a cortina mk2 1600E when i was a kid but instead i bought my two door 1100 for £100 with 12 months (bent) MOT as it turned out, either that or the MOT tester was blind.
if i could find mine under the brambles it should look something like the one in the picand the other is a mk2 cortina

That's what I thought, whichever way it goes I'll post something on the anything goes site if it's the Mk1 and If i get my hands on the Series I'll be back here for sure.
It makes a refreshing change not to have to talk about diagnostics, air suspension and ECUs as well
