I`m thinking of getting a freelander, up to £5k to spend.
Any tips or advice would be very muc appreciated, thanks.:)

Make sure you buy a diesel one. Td4 is easily in that price range for a good one. Buy an auto if you want to take it off road, as the cluch can get a bit hot on the manuals when taken off road. Have a good read on here for probelms to look out for. Missing vcu - viscous coupling, sunroof/rear door leaks, missing prop shafts or vcu to hide transmission problems.

One very good thing the fl does is,put it in any gear, take your feet off the peddles and it will plod along forever at an even pace,on the crappiest roads and tracks.

Yes except when you're in convoy, behind a Defender who is in low range. My passengers kept asking why I was tailgating!

Manual or Automatic ? It won`t be going serious off roading, just fields and country lanes.
I`ll only be driving it on longer journeys, family days out etc.
Thanks for the advice so far.:)
