Think the roof is original?

So got a bit more done, sold the 200tdi and picked up a 300,
Swapped ot the leaking rad for a s/h one that came with the 300 engine, seems water tight?? Have removed the water heater the now as it wasn't fitted very well and it's a complication that I don't need the now.
Cleaned up the new engine and removed the old tank.

New tank fitted and guage working etc, went to fit the controller for the other systems, but found the previous owner had butchered the plug for some reason!

I'll have to sort that before going any further.

New plug, hacked of a transit in the local breaker, then 3 hours of wiring Diagrams, connector pin outs, tracing wires and soldering and swapping pins over and........

Tah dah!, still got to tidy up the wiring, but all working. But I'm away home as its baltic in the workshop!

so this is what the previous owner left me with the auto selector, too far forward and impossible to get into park without the Lever being the wrong way round. No tunnel fitted, just had rubber matting tech screwed around it!

So I've moved it back, it's working better and picked up a puma tunnel section. All wind and water tight now, still think the auto will be going at some point, but want to get a bit of use out it first.

while I was in there, handbrake cable was replaced and the diff lock switch connected.
IMG_20210102_162409.jpg

Put it all back together and went a run, brakes were squealing like mad, so back to the workshop and a quick strip out of the pads and a clean up, grease up and bleed and the seem OK now, hoping the discs clean up through use.

So next it's mot, heated seats, central locking, maybe refit the winch?

And hopefully use it a bit, while I strip the 300 engine and check it over. :)

So mot went well, 2 advisories, which weren't really problems.
1 was oil leak, but it was just because I hadn't had a chance to wash all the old oil off, and the other handbrake pads, which they said it was only because they were unable to see them. X-eng conversion thing.

So I fitted the heated seats now and I seem to have a leak from the roof somewhere to investigate, but other than that all good.

And I service the eberspacher that came with it and its now smoke free an running well:)

I do fancy central locking and a reverse camera next, and there's the winch to wire up too!

Weather has been a good test for the rebuild, unfortunately I hadn't done my homework on the roof and had to scrape out the roof joints as we had a gusher:D

So been running about and it's going well, still no a fan of the auto, but found a r380 box and started to strip the 300down for a once over.

Started putting it back together now, new modified timing belt kit fitted as it still had the old style, waiting on a couple of bits and pieces and I can get the head back on. Got anew box today too

Just noticed on your pic of teh engine your FIP is very different to mine, is yours a disco engine ? is the extra pulley for Air Con ?
Yeah, it was a disco engine, it had the egr (now removed) , and the actuator is still mounted on the pump,
The puma dash has all the AC matrix etc, and the disco engine came with the compressor, so the intention is try and mate them up, so I fitted all the pulleys and tensioner.;)

So today I fitted the head lining back in, I recovered it with strerchy carpet stuff and managed to track down some interior trims too (not cheap!)
Fitted the reverse camera and mirror screen too.

Then the bastard broke down on the way home! It's either developed a air leak or the lift pumps packed in?
I managed to get it running again to get home, luckily I had left the little electric pump on the fuel line that I used for bleeding up.
I'd left a quick hook up on the + under the bonnet and it fired up and drove the mile or so home. But looks like I may have to fit the new engine and box sooner than I had thought!
