Thermostats

Hi this maybe a silly question to some , But when a Thermostat is closed how closed is it , the one i have you can see a slight gap all the way around and can shine a light through a gap say about a4 print paper size (thickness)not width/length , Ive never looked that close before but as my defender heater is @@@@ im thinking is that open enough to let the coolant through thanks gerry

fully closed buy a new one,but also ensure system is completely full and filled with heater on hot

will do , i tried today but got shown 3 various types from shallow to very deep and sods law i picked the shallow type and the one fitted is deeper , i guess it wont make alot of difference they all seem to seat the same and x2 were 88c , or am i wrong ? i shouls add its a 200tdi unit in a defender

Thats the one thats in +the gap sadly , So will swap the other in the morning again thanks James atb gerry
