Can someone please tell me if the stat comes out of its plastic housing or does it come that way . if it comes out how does it come out. ?
please help. k series engine, stat in line connected by 3 hoses.

Don't rip the thermo out. There's no point. The centre pipe is a traditional temp type valve. The pipe that comes out on an angle is a bypass valve that is sucked open by your waterpump when your engine reaches upwards of 1500rpm. This means that when on tickover in winter your heaters stay warmer and when booting it hard the coolant has a clear path. it's the best of both worlds.

let me see if ive got this right, the thermo is upside down inside the housing ?? hot water pulls it back,instead of the way the old thermo's used to push it down ??
well, i've had it off errrr if you know what i mean, and cleaned it,,,,errr,,, where's this going,??? now i've lost my train of thought ...where was i ???? oh yes.
Its works after getting really hot from the top hose. "oh forget it ".

It's good int it. It confused the living hell outta me to start with. This is how it's explained to thems with a technical head on em...... (this extract is for a TD5 engine but it's the same stat).
