I have a water problem and I don't mean me! I recntly patched a hole in the drivers footwell of my classic, I welded a plate in smothered the underside in silicone sealant followed by several helpings of under body sealant, however I noticed a wet patch on the carpet the other day and it has me stumped! Is there any area on the classic which is known for ingress in this area, I have a new windscreen seal fitted so I'm ruling out that area. Is it possible my heater matrix has a leak? looking for some inspiration guys!!

you say you had a new windscreen seal fitted but did the folk that did the job use sealant as well? i'm a windscreen fitter myself and usually just seal up leaky screens with arbomast as i did with mine as new rubbers are a terrible fit compared to the old ones. if they didn't seal it then it'll probably leak worse than it did before.

No they didn't use sealant, I watched the guy to pick up some tips for next time. Is it possible to apply sealant now the screen is in place? also along which edges do you apply the sealant? I assume down the sides for one but do you do the bottom seal too?

yeah just remove the filler strip (which is a bastard to get back in without the proper tool) and pump in the gungy stuff. don't use silicone, its crap. i would seal all round on both the body and glass side of the rubber just to be on the safe side although the body side at the bottom isn't too important. if you need the proper sealant and tool for the filler strip i can supply these to you at cost price. it may take you a while and remember theres always the chance its coming in elsewhere. alternativley phone the feckers that did it and tell them its ****ing in water. most windscreen companies have a lifetime workmanship guarantee.
