Land Rover adopted Electronic Unit Injector (EUI) technology for the Td5, the system easing driveability and improving economy, in addition to providing a positive route to meeting increasingly toughening emission regulations. EUI uses an individual camshaft-driven plunger pump for each cylinder's injector, with ultra precise electronic control of the injection period and timing.

High fuel injection pressure is one of the keys to good diesel emmision control and the EUI provides very high injection pressures, safely. Compared with the high-pressure system of the 300Tdi of around 600 Bar, the Td5 uses 1500 Bar (22,000 psi), with a further increase to 2000 Bar (29,000 psi) already feasible with the system.
