The Pros and Cons of Britpart - Sound Off!

Why are Britpart considered in a bad light by so many on this forum?

Are there any saving graces in using Britpart; Surely they are affordable bits of kit?
Are there any Britpart crusaders out there who can give their side of the story?

I've bought some gear from them (oil and fuel filter plus some shocks) and it seems ok to me

i hope they are ok ,just ordered a 2" lift kit from them eeek

Britpart:

Pros: it's available, it's cheap

Cons: it's available, it's cheap.


They really are the last resort when OEM parts aren't available.

I've used them with no probs!

I've never had problems with their bits - but then I if I need performance critical parts I either by OE or uprated spec anyway.

think you'll find it's mostly from the back streets of China, designed by the senile and quality controlled by the blind

disco1 wheel past arches question !

I'm impressed, all that parting of knowledge seemed to have had, a desirable effect then

I bought a new rear foglight for my SIII from them and it was the nastiest piece of cr@p I've ever seen. And it wasn't even cheap.

It looked nothing like the original and worse than that it didn't even work! When I took it apart, I found that one of the connections consisted of one of the wires literally twisted round a coil of the spring that holds the bulb in.

Utter rubbish. You should read some of the comments about them on the LRO forum (and they're supposed to be Britpart's greatest friends!).

Anyway, just my opinion.

i had a steering damper which the rubber perished on from britpart.The part was band new and the car was sorn!!!!
Cheap n nasty.Avoid.

I seem to remember reading that they're bad at returns and refunds as well. I didn't bother even trying with the foglight. I just used some of the bits and made the original one work again.

It still failed it's MOT though.

I didn't know there were any 'Pros' for ****part.

The stuff I've had of theirs has been of shockingly poor quality.

The only pro is the price, but that soon goes when you have to replace the britpart bits with bits that work.

The britpart springs on my rrc are a year old and already sagging

Usually bearmach or owm for me now.

The rear radius arm snaped on my Disco 300 Tdi ( worn top shock bush) got new radius arm and 2x rear shock for 67 quid delivered, parts fitted well, had new washers bolts etc, i was well pleased and still am, however our Disco is just used on road so not a hard life, their parts may not be much use off road tbh ??

I got a caliper piston/seal kit off Ebay and the seal kit happened to be britpart,there was no way the metal dust seal retainers would fit the caliper as they were bigger than the hole they go into.Went to swansea 4x4 and got an oem seal kit and it went together in minutes.(And the brakes actually worked after)

i got a steering bar for a drfender it was ok but you can't go wrong with a straight bar , i'm told their cv joints for defender are good and alot cheaper then the gen landy one, i got alloy wheel nuts of them and they were poor enough

I wouldn't even consider buying an important part like a cv joint off britpart. Mudflaps maybe, or a seat cover perhaps, but nothing that would be subjected to any kind of stress or would be expected to fit properly.

ive used brit part a fair bit and for the money they they are good. for regular every day use i would expect the parts to have a resonable service life, using them in extream conditions like of roading i wouldnt be so sure.

the old saying is you get what you pay for. if brit part isnt what you want to buy then go genuine land rover and pay 20 times as much and brit part and get the quaility

for internal engine components i would always go genuine land rover.

Got the cheapest service kit for my disco when we got it in nov, all filters britpart, cheap as chips, will change again with the oil in feb, still cheaper than getting oil level checked at a stealers, do the sums.
