 hi all ,nearly all my range problems are solved ...for now!!! ,this is one of my last,i have the notebook pic icon displayed on the screen of my aircon would this be the reason i only get hot or cold air from the slit vents underneath the windscreen,no air comes out of any other vent or footwell or rear,#

also i know you need to plug a diagnostic into the interface but is there a manual way of resetting using wire? as i did this with a bmw diagnostic port with 3 pieces of wire in different holes of the interface,

any help appreiciated!!!!!!!

Looks like the distribution blend motor is faulty and this will put the book symbol up. You can't reset faults or read them on the Range Rover P38 unless you have specific software-Test Book, Autologic or Rovacom/lite. OBD II scan tools will not work.

so are my hands tied to landrover dealers only or do any independant stores have one,not sure if there is a fault or that the problem is it needs resetting as the battery was flat for a couple of weeks before i bought it,and i know rangies dont like dead batterys,
thanks

Independant workshops that specialise in Range Rovers tend to have the diagnostic systems if they are worth their salt. Maybe someone in your area will post someone on the forum.

You could always come over to me in Ireland!!!

cheers i-r ,im hoping it will be a dead battery that caused it but knowing my luck it gonna be expensive,

anyone in north london with one of theese units can sort me out ,thanks

Try putting the HEVAC in "Manual" then drive the distribution motor through the full range of travel from footwell to demist, checking that the air flow is coming out of the correct ducts whilst doing it. Then drive each temperature motor through the range from LO to HI, does the temperature change? With the aircon on LO one pipe at the compressor should be freezing cold and the other one too hot to touch. Sometimes the book symbol will come on if the aircon is low on gas.

well i get hot and cold low and high blasting through the windscreen vents but no other vents at all,i think that the actual air con gear which spins inside the engine doesnt move because of this open book icon has kicked in, so i think its a dealer visit to reset oh no more money!!!!!!

As said before its likely to be that the distribution blend motor has failed. This is often because the actual flaps are too tight in the heater box itself,so replacing the blend motor will not fix it ,nor will a blend tune.
Have a look at for a fix that will work without replacing the whole assembly and a massive bill.It works and is less than 3 hours to do,inc a new motor if necessary.

i had same prob. it was the heat core sensor if i remember rightly thats what it was called. cost £12.50 to buy

just checked out that guide for changing the blend motors, and to tell you the truth felt sick but came back and see bighammerfan's post and feel good!!!!!
do you know where its located m8 and is it a pig to do as i will def try the cheap option first, but you know it aint gonna fix it

we'll tell you that runescape money you were born in Britain's last Asian colony in the lunar year of the pig and that when we brought you home, the staff of our apartment block gathered to wish you well. We Chinese runescape gold love boys. One man said you were the first baby to be born in the block in the year of the pig. This, he told us, was good Feng Shui, in runescape power leveling other words a positiveRunescape Gold sign for the building and everyone who lived there.

I had a garage do it with some other things so im not sure of the cost or where it is but i had a new ABS ECU (tested to find fault and replaced) and that item plus a couple of other bits and it came to £750. as the ECU was around £300 and plus the diagnostic costs, i assume the labour couldnt be much more than £50 for that item. sorry im a bit vague.
