well on friday i picked up the 110 CSW. took it straight to north wales from london, and now im back. what do you think i should do to it - want some opinions before making decisions, i am thinking a snorkel, some front bullbars with 2 spots and then 4 on the roofrack. anyone got any thoughts or idea's?

There's nowt wrong with it as it is but if you must be a fashion victim why not decide what you want yourself rather than asking some internet experts?

haha - im thinking of taking it off while i have it in the uk but will chuck it back on for expeditions and so forth

the reason i ask is because i am new to the game, so wanted peoples opinions. im not going to go out and buy whatever people tell me to - i just want some idea's to be thrown about so i can get some idea's of my own

g man, i may well do both yes

the boys are right it is fine the way it is and the rack is ok if you need it, but can cause trouble for car parks trees etc ,you will find that a lot of people put loads of extras on there landy just for the sake of it , i have a 90 and have done a few mods to it that i wanted for normal driving so as to make it more comfortable but do what ever rocks your boat , best of luck

yea i am looking for practical mods first and foremost. i will be donig laning, and so on - or i hope to. and i will also be doing off roading on area's etc. therefore practical mods - i.e winch etc will be on the list. first things first i need to sort out the interiort - going to sort out seatbelts in the middle and back etc. but really was just after a pool of idea's. i like the sound of and look of spotlights so they will happen at some point or other

:O you reckon? i will have to have a look tomorrow, i quite like im thinking.

will have a ganders when its light.

Perfect as it is.

Don't rush out and spend on stuff you might never use. Do some searches on here for recommended equipment for laning - some shackles, straps, possible a high lift jack etc. You don't need to spend a lot of money. Its not necessary to buy a winch and snorkel and all the goodies.

Its a Defender and it will probably out perform your abilities for while yet. Just drive it and enjoy it.

It looks cracking and good for you for sticking to your guns on a 110 CSW :high5:

when it comes to money i try not to rush things. i fully agree re. it outperforming my abilities etc. the snorkel is as much visual as practical. although with all the goading that will happen if there is a snorkel it will be used. the lights will have a functioning role - so will add them.

its gotta look nice and sexy as well! most important and what would have been top of the list is tyres but they are good to go!

yup got that planned for tomorrow. any good websites for 4x4 accessories? have googled etc - but any ones anyone can recommend?

I'm in a similar situation with my 110. I've got three main targets: 1) some additional lighting, 2) a snorkel and 3) decent rock sliders/side steps. You've already got 3) by the looks of things - can anyone tell who sells this type, they're exactly the ones I want!

1) I'm only looking at a pair of extra spots since I can't see the need to challenge Blackpool and am unlikely to need any more. I was actually quite surprised by the standard lighting (I'd expected it to be awful and it's merely poor) but I do like to be able to see clearly.

2) Unfortunately I do have a demon that whispers in my ear when I see water and have previous form for plunging in where perhaps I shouldn't so if nothing else a snorkel would be a good precaution. However, as you say, this might only make things worse...

my 90 has spotlights on the front, make a huge difference to road driving at night, cos my original headlights are ****e. i wudn bother with them on the rroof though, they are good there if you wanna inspect your bonnet at night.

Other mods i would recommend... whatever you find you need! A decent rope, a couple of shakles, and some LR driving friends :) Give it a go, and see what you think 'hmm... i really would use some of them...' :)

Me mate has some rocksliders like that, they look rubbish cos they are soo bent. Anything that lowers the body will get battered - rather take the sills off and make some box section ones to do in their place.

Reducing the clearance IS a concern for me but then so is having no protection at all. Don't really want to do major surgery and these types that I've poked at in car parks seem pretty solid without dangling too much in the wind.
