Why is it everytime bob appears in the FL section, I get this image of Bez from The Happy Mondays, with glassy look in his eye and a whole lotta D.R.U.G.S

well you'll aslo need 2x irds, 2xVCUs and 2xhead gasket repair kits.

I've got 2 IRD's in my garage, one is the OE from the FL, The other donated by Ccoaton.
Plan to do a rebuild,
I'm actually thinking of going to OE gasket for the power increase alone.

Bringing this thread back on track, maybe I should just go and buy a FL2 and put up some pics
Had to drive a factory demonstrator RR Autobiography back to Lode Lane in the late '90's, metallic lilac with purple leather seats and carpets.

Wouldn't make any difference lol as it is protected with proper wax, something I doubt you will know anything about cos I dubt you polish your gash heap.
Bought a virtually new TD4 HSE in May this year. Fabulous vehicle! Had a previous model from new in November 2002, with all the usual troubles that the old model typically suffered. This new model should have been renamed because it has NOTHING in common with the old Freelander. To say it's a totally superior vehicle is a huge understatement. The only issues I have had are the optional 19" Shadow Chromes - they are way too easy to scratch, and the fuel consumption is not as good as I had been lead to believe but other than that you can expect a lot of fun from this model.

One of the first sensible replies - excellent. I had a 1.8GS Freelander 3 door in March 2001, I bought that new. I did have some issues but nothing major.
The day I collected it the rear window didn't work & then the passenger side quarter window leaked for which the glass was changed & the rubber twice & it still leaked when I sold it!! There was a rattle in the chassis that sounded like an aerosol can when you went round corners - after about 5+ visits to the dealer they got a guy from Solihull to come down with "chassis ears" & it turned out that a guy on the production line got the sack & he dropped a few ball bearings into a few vehicle chassis & mine being on of them. There were a couple of other minor bits but can't remember what now but then I did only have it 2 years before I traded it in.

yeah but the FL1 has character. The FL2 is better but it does look boring.

100% correct there & that is exactly what I said to the dealer & LR when I phoned them up. The original Freelander like all previous 4x4's had the spare wheel on the back & the FL1 had the moulded wheel arches that gave it a broader stance.
For this reason I said to the dealer I can only buy one of these if I spec it up & that is why the front bumper styling cover & light pods etc were added & I have to say lookig at it I am impressed now as yes in standard form it does look too much like a Ford estate car if you look at it from the side or the rear!
In it's present guise it now does remind me of my FL1 & that was in Alverston Red which was Rover Nightfire Red also!
Just out of interest I have got a brand new set of the 19" Shaddow Chrome wheels & tyres that I had intended to fit but I like the 19" Tripple Sports that I also got, do you know of anyone that may want the Shaddow Chromes?
