Hello everyone, I am Chamlong from Bangkok, Thailand. Just joint landyzone. I have used Freelander 2.0 Td4, 2005 for 7 years and spent lot of time for learning about Freelander 2.0 Td4 repairing, spare parts study and seeking. I would like to share my experience on M47 diesel engine of Freelander that is very useful for Freelander 2.0 Td4 owners.
One of the most problem of M47 is its crankshaft pulley that usually broken in short time, about 30,000 - 40,000 km. I used several brands of pulley including the most well-known pulley that Freelander 2.0 Td4 owners have used for long time.
I just discoverd a new developed crankshaft pulley that made of total metal (4.63 kg) with no rubber layer between inner and outer part, so it work very last long, The other brand is about 3.30 kg. with rubber layer. I don't have any problem on crankshaft broken from that time. You can find it on ebay as "Japanparts brand"
I have not known Japanparts crankshaft pulley before, it is incredible part, much better than OEM I have discovered. I strongly recommend for every Freelander 2.0 Td owners to try it for next replacement.
