Well this either going to be voyage of discovery or
a frigging nightmare as I went ahead with the 300tdi
1995 Disco. This is never going to be a mint condition,
but I am hoping for a pratical and useful addition to the
family. So here she is:-

The body work is fairly clean for the year with the odd bit of bubbling here
and there which I expected.

up front there are signs of the good old rust worm doing its magic to the
front inner wings, but nothing really major and not in such a state that
replacement panels need, working my way back and the inner and outer
seals have been done.

the wheel arches when you open the rear doors both sides need to be sorted, so I am hoping there are some replacement panels out there.
The boot panel I know needs to be sorted and instead of repairing I will
replace when we get a bit of decent weather.

I would be stupid if I didn't think there was going to be some work needed
to get her feeling and looking a little better, I just hope my pocket can
ride the storm. the 155,000 mile Engine has been looked after with regular
services and belts etc... Well this is her what do you think???

I have some positives.....she has not got sunroofs to leak, I did welding
at college over 20 years ago and I am a plumber so pretty handy plugging
holes :D

Looks good:) the engines are good for high miles as long as they're looked after, I used to have an ex welsh waterboard commercial that had done over 250,000 when I sold it and it was still going strong. Great bit of kit:) W

Looks fine on the surface but thats not wher the problems may be - the arches you have found , likewise the fronts , the sills outer and inner also ,that leaves the rear body cross member and body mounts , then get that damn sponge out from under the bootspace carpet and check out the floor . All known trouble spots , all fixable with lots of searchable posts , pics and step by steps and all panels easily available .

Engine , high miles no prob if serviced ..... even if the service history is genuine you wont go far wrong by doing all the fluids including brake and filters too . Flush rad and cooling system with hose and water until it runs clear before filling . Check rad gets hot all over . Check all hoses and pipes for leaks or deformation under pressure . Look at brake discs and pads all round , all affordable and straightforward to do . When you are satisfied that all rust is fixed or stabilised underneath give it a bloody good hard pressure wash and cover it with waxoyl or shutz or a combination . Dont go paying one of the magazine ad miracle workers - I have seen too many vehicles that have had a grand plus of their treatment rust just as badly as without .
