Watching SKYFALL the other day, and during the obligatory pre-credit action(?) sequence in which Bond and Moneypenny have a car/train chase in a silver defender ( total damage to 'Fender= 2 broken wing mirrors. Must be on a tight budget these days) I got to thinking about other similar movie appearances by our beloved marque, from blatant product placement to the more subtle.
Most blatent? Anyone remember 'Callan' with edward Woodward? 70's espionage series with a movie spin-off. In the film, there is a plot device obvously written in for the sole purpose of showing off a 4x4. Callan is tasked with being in a certain location at a specific time, then getting to a second destination to intercept his target quicker than possible by road. He looks at his orders and says "I'll need an ordinance survey map. And a Range Rover..."
In 'Get Carter' ( the Michael Caine original) the same landrover turn up twice. First being driven by the gangsters out to get him, then later full of coppers as a police vehicle on a dawn raid. Hilarious.
The most Obscure? in the 'Bourne' films, Jason Bournes nemesis is a female agent called.... Pamela Landy.
Anyone got any more?
