I recently replaced the O rings and the injector seals on my td5 and I suspect that one or two are leaking since it takes longer to start and fuel pump gargles a little.

The tight fit of the washers onto the injectors came as a surprise to me and I did scratch them a little while fitting them. I would love to know the pro way to put them on so that i don't damage them this time around.

Cheeers!

I used genuine land rover ones, and just pushed them on, they wasn't so tight as to scratch the injector though

I did mine recently and the washers just slipped on. Definitely not a tight fit, in fact I was concerned that they might fall off when I refitted the injectors.

As compared to yours mine went on very tight.

I sanded the nozzles with a very fine sand paper so as to get rid of the carbon and then still wouldn't go on.
Then I used a small socket and kept on tapping them I drove them to the end and that socket left a round scratch on all of them, deeper on some than the others.
Mine were genuine LR ones as well.

Shifty I reckon did say that they go on tight and suggested to tap them into place with a socket.... I perhaps got it wrong some how.

Sounds like you didn't remove carbon or **** quality parts

I used britpart ones which were too loose to stay on so I dropped each one in the hole where the injector locates lined them up with an Allen key and fitted injectors, touch wood all has been good the last 6 months

I just replaced mine with LR genuine washers, the fit was very tight.

This is normal on the early 10P black top injectors, the later injectors the washers just slip over and usually need a dollop of grease to stop them falling down the injector bore as you refit the injectors.

The best way to get them on without deforming them is to get the tightest fitting deep socket you can (8 or 9 mm works well) put the washer on the injector and move it as far up as you can by hand, slip the socket over the injector end then very carefully wiggle/rock it a little bit from side to side applying gently pressure, this should nudge the washer along slowly. Don't be tempted to push hard, you'l deform the washer.
