evening all, I bought the TF255 heavy duty steering rods for my D2 to find that the standard bolts for fixing the steering damper aren’t long enough to protrude to or past the nylock part, and new bolts weren’t supplied with the kit.

The place I bought them from contacted Allmakes who then sent me some bolts (I’d asked for longer/correct bolts) however what they sent was standard (short) bolts.

I contacted Allmakes directly to be told:
“Unfortunately we do not have a TF255 to replicate the issue that you have, and we hoped that supplying the bolts would have solved the issue that you.

We have not heard from any other customers regarding this issue.

Are you able to obtain the correct bolts as suggested below?”

Has anyone else noticed this when fitting these steering rods/dampers, which I presume are reasonably popular?

I mean these bolts, nothing to do with u bolts???? The ones that attach the steering damper, where there is no mention you have to use terrafirma steering dampers and longer bolts than these

Stop being a fanny and just buy some M10/12 high tensile bolts of whatever length you need?

Lol you could get a job at Allmakes with that attitude. Or you could randomly post on the internet! I asked for opinions/experiences of people who had bought that kit not a forensic examination of what the kit includes or ideas about what I could do about. I know I can buy two bolts, presumably you don’t have these steering bars/damper fitted either.

The point is, they should be supplied

Was it sold to you with bolts? Does it promise you you’ll have everything you need? Did it give you sockets to fit it?

It just struck me that quite a lot of contact with the company about your standard bolts being too short was a bit excessive.

Personally I’d have just cursed them, and then sorted out the problem myself

One email and one reply can hardly be seen as excessive.

Yes I will just get some bolts but for all I knew they may well have come with bolts normally, there was no mention of the standard steering damper or it’s bolts not fitting with the kit so I’d assumed it came with bolts or that it was a direct replacement.

I wondered if anyone else who had bought the kit had had the same, but everyone that replied didn’t even have those steering bars but had an opinion anyway.

Cheers
