I'm in a bit of a spot with my RRC 3.9, I went to change the temperature sensor today as I've been having issues once the engine warms up, and, in common with just about every job on this vehicle, it all went a bit Pete Tong. After a few turns of the sensor I thought, "This is taking a while to come out" and sure enough, the black plastic cap was turning on the brass bit, which I assume is still well stuck in the block. I'm not quite sure what to do now except wrench off the plastic cap and hope there's enough underneath to get hold of and unscrew. Anybody been here before?

Yes and yes. On my 3.5EFi RRC.
I used a dremel to cut the plastic away as I wasn't sure how much was under it.
Once the brass was exposed I used a pair of big pliers to undo it.
Replaced it with one of the all brass variety - check with the seller when you order.

No.
Can't remember if I took the other sensor out as well to give me a bit more room.
