Hi. I know this seems a common thread but one problem I've had for the last 12 years is the temperature guage steadily going up to the red! I've changed the sender a few times over the years and the voltage regulator ( which presently reads 10.3v). I'm pretty sure the engine isn't hot.I've resorted to taking the thermostat out for the summer! I'd love to know whats going on. Any ideas appreciated.

Flush it an see if it still does it

Check rad not blocked or air in coolant

Borrow laser thermo and measure temp to rule out injun being too hot

Take stat out and test it or just replace they’re cheap ( stick in a pan of water and boil it see if it opens even if it’s new especially from ****part)

Water pump on way oot

Earths on stabiliser and sender

Install a Capillary thermometer

Hi. I suppose within the last 5/6 years I've done all that. Flushed through, renewed water pump, renewed radiator, various thermostats (including drilling hole)! new stabiliser and senders. It's a real mystery

Dodgy sender. If it's not over heating when in the red, it's the sender. Presuming that the sender is in full contact with the head, no PTFE. I've a good few sensors, none are the same resistance. I swapped until I had one that was nicely in the centre.

I recently replaced sender and you're right they all have different resistance readings. I notice a 'genuine' Landrover sender 560794 made by Britpart in Poland is about £26 and a standard Britpart one made in China is less than a tenner! What do you do? Does anyone have any resistance values for the sender?
