So today I’ve taken a trip up to Manchester and got my hands on a full set of hood hoops. Torn wether to paint them or galvanise them but I’ll get round to that in due course.

Next task is to get my hands on a cheap hood which I can stick on it while I’m working on it, way to early to be putting something decent on it I think.
Galvanise it. Although it should already be galvanised.
but if you ever have the choice between painting or galvanising the answer is always galvanise. And then followed by paint if it does not want to be silver.

Bit late to this thread but I’ve got an 1975 branbridge, been used by Land Rover for publicity for 65th and 70th anniversary events. I repainted the front as it had turned orange before Goodwood FoS, took locker door to local paint shop and they mixed some up which is a pretty good match, have got mixture written down some where if you want it. Been told lot were post office red.
Mine can from a fireman from wales, said they had same conversion at his station but when the local brigade joined together all the petrol appliances got sold off. He wanted to buy it but no one was told they were going, could well be your one
