When the weather is cool or reasonably warm, my gauge reads around the quarter mark. When we get a hot sunny day of 21+ degrees my gauge reads around halfway. The fans are working and there is no loss of coolant. Can anyone guide me in the right direction of prognosis, or is it the norm?

Original thermostat opening to early, so either change the thermostat which is a ball ache to do, or do the inline stat mod.

Hi, as others have said faulty thermostat. If all is well then the temp. gauge needle should be just below 12 'o' clock & it shouldn't take too long to get there even when the outside temp. is zero. In the 4 1/2 yrs owning mine (after replacing the stat) I've never had the fans cut in, other than when I run the air con, or the gauge go above halfway even in heavy traffic & high outside tempreatures (towing might be different). Not sure how long you've had yours but the heater will be poor in the colder weather until the stat. is done.
