As per title, does anyone know the wire colours for the temp sensor (green ). I'm loosing the will to live trying to get the wiring diagram on my tablet. There are two plugs that will fit one gas a green wire and a brown one. The other has blue white and green Brown wires. The other plug is for the inlet manifold sensor. 2.5 bmw weasel by the way. Ta.

From what I can work out in Rave coolant temp sensor is grey blue and brown green wire, if that's any help
were`s Wammers when you need him, I do hope he is getting better.

Could be, it is hard to tell some of the colours when they get a bit old and oily.
I take no responsibility if wrong:D:D:D:D

RAVE to me says that the engine coolant temp sensor is Grey/Blue and Brown/Green aswell.
The Blue/White and Brown/Green wires/connector is for the intake air temp sensor.

Brown/Green appears to be the common wire for most of the engine sensors. If the Grey/Blue and the Blue/White look similar as they are no doubt dirty, then I'd give them a quick wipe to verify which is which :)

Confusion here, one connector has one brown wire and one green. The other has one br/g wire and one bl/w or grey.

What year P38?

Definitely a bit of confusion - I can't find a connector in the wiring diagrams with solid brown and solid green wires... Don't suppose you have a picture?

All models Green ECU temp sensor. Pin 1 Grey - blue tracer. Pin 2 Brown - green tracer. Dash temp gauge. Blue sensor 1998 and on. Pin 1 Green. Pin 2 Brown-yellow tracer. 1994 to 1997 one pin Brown sensor, single Green. Inlet air temp sensor up to 1997 pre EGR. Pin 1 Blue-white tracer. Pin 2 Brown-green tracer.

Cheers Tony, mine is a 98 but probably MY 97 its pre ERG. So single brown and single green connector to blue sensor and the other to the inlet manifold sensor. When I took it apart I assumed the length of wire would determine their position, how wrong.;)

Hi Marty, See my posted reply to Tony. Thanks.

Looks like you've got it sorted then...

Typically, looking again in RAVE, even though the second coolant temp sensor - even though it's in the engine loom and all that is only shown in the 'instruments' section, which is why I couldn't find it last night. (typically the Thor petrol ETM which is the most used for me, since I have one! shows both parts of the sensor and the fact it goes to another part of the manual!)

Even with that, RAVE shows the wires to the temp sensor (from '98MY) as being Green and Black, not Brown.. but then that doesn't surprise me - there are a number of times where the wire colour listed in RAVE doesn't actually match the vehicle loom!
