temp rises quickly

Hi Everyone, My 2.5 v6 temperatre gauge rises to half way after only about a mile driving, checked header tank water ok, I get full heat from the heaters quick aswell, If sitting in traffic fan kicks in after a couple of minutes, Is this normal ? Its a bit worrying especially hearing about head gaskets blowing all the time .... many thanks

hed gaskets dont blow all the time. the V6 gets hot quickly anyway. It dont matter if it goes into red or not - it dont always wiv a blown hed. when yu turn the engine orf - duz it gurgle, or the header tank bubble?

Thanks Mondo. now now an xtrail ! Just a bit paranoid. Not had it a week yet. If theres a small problem, dont want to leave it to turn into a big one.

Hi, mhm. Yes when I switch off the engine you can hear the gurgling noise coming from the header tank. Is that normal ?

They are prone to hotspots in the head - the bubbling noise is caused by localised boiling of the water in the heads.

how long yu had it?
do you have a warranty?
get it pressure tested.
get a "sniffer" test done to check for combustion gases in the water.

get anuvva drink.

Hi , Had it just under a week, I did pay for a 4 year warranty that covers parts and labour as long as its not wear and tear, Is there anything i can do myself to see if it cures the problem ?

nutting that I am aware of. just take it to a stealer (dealer) or independant and get a written report.

the sniffer test is, most likely, the important bit.

If you've had it less than a week then get it back to the dealer fast. If the problem is major - HGF / Engine - you may well have a case to get a full refund, but you need to act quickly.
Ask Rets about sale of goods act etc.

Live in Liverpool. Bought it in Manchester, Ive done a couple of hundred miles in it since ive bought it and it drives and sounds sweet. Ive heard the bubbling about 5 or 6 times now. (now im hearing it in my stomach)

it aint black, is it?

No sandy, redy,browny colour ?
