 hi, newly acquired disco 98 es. Seems to be running well but temp guage never goes into normal range, in fact never enters the working range but moves from totally cold to just before the start of the operating scale but never into the scale. Heater works and engine dosen't seem to overheat. garage looked at it and couldn't find a fault but said guage may be faulty, anyone any experience of this or any ideas? Cheers

There are thermostats and thermostats.
Not all thermostats are the same.

They may LOOK the same and WORK the same, but they may be rated to start opening at different temperatures.

Common are 78°C 82°C 88°C and 92°C

People think it's smart to fit a COOLER stat, but all this does is make the temp gauge read low (quite a lot low) make the heater not so good, and cut down the power output and spoil the MPG.

These are HEAT engines - they work best running HOT.
