Temp guage and heating wierdness

Hello,
I have recently had a new 300tdi engine from a disco, fitted to my defender, after it seized. Since then, I have had problems with heat. My temperature gauge barely moves past the white line, even after an hours run, and the heater only blows cold/luke warm air. Any ideas?

Does it have a stat fitted? Sounds like it doesn't.

not sure. where do I find that? oh wait, ill use the manwell

its got plenty of cooland, a new ally sport rad, all new gaskets throughout the engine, (though it leaks oil like the Exxon Valdese)

the temp guage appears to be working, it moves off the base line but barely gets past the white line. occasionally it gets to the quarter mark but as soon as you put the heaters on, it drops down again

No stat or it's stuck open.

Has it still got a dsicovery temperature sender fitted in the thermostat housing

Even with a new rad, the engine should heat up to 80 something degrees within a few miles, and give you warm air from the heater.

If you are fitting a new 'stat, only bother with a waxstat. I had a brand new pattern one and clearly it was not working properly and staying closed when it was supposed to. I have a digital temp gauge so I could see exactly what was going on temp wise. Fitted a waxstat and it's fine now.

If it was still fitted with the Disco temp sender it would show as over heating not cold. As said waxstat is the brand you want
