Just thinking ahead a bit at the moment, if I diagnose a faulty crankshaft position sensor and change it with a new one is it an easy job? Seen a YouTube video for changing the sensor on a V8 Discovery and it looked to be in a hard to get to spot (and had a protective shroud), but I reckon the CKP on the 2003 Disco 2 Td5 auto should be a quick job - about half-way up on the bell housing on the driver's side (LHS facing towards the vehicle from the front)? Just unclipping the connector and removing one bolt?

I guess when I look I might find a spacer? If I don't I guess I don't put one in then?

Was going to buy an Intermotor crankshaft position sensor - don't expect that to be an issue? Noticed large price variation with these!!!

If there is a spacer fit one if not dont...afaik there should be one on autos, mine is manual and it didnt have one, when mine was changed the vehicle was raised on elevator and it was a 15 minute job for my mechanic.... i can't go further with a diagnose as long as you fit sh*t aftermarket sensor there... it's a too important sensor to go on lottery and not get genuine IMO.. even if it's expensive..... no probs we'll see the live readings and if it is out if limits you'll spend again for a genuine beside that aftermarket. or put back the old one..your money, your choice m8 but it's possible to not be the crank sensor then you'll replace a good old genuine one with a new sh*t..... i dont understand why you are in such hurry, wait for that tester for god's sake

Waiting for the tester - was only thinking ahead about potential scenarios; not going to do anything until I get the tester though (hopefully arrives next week).
