Hi All
After being stung by my Vogue 04 plate td6 (gearbox, turbo , fuel pumps, in one year) it had to go :(
after waving good by and moving across to a td5 for 3 years with only a few issues,
i'm getting feeling i want to dip my toe back into the Range Rover Vogue Pond,
i'm looking to buy either a tdv8 or supercharged and anything from 07 - 10 reg i would love the 4.4tdv8 but they are just out of my price range,
can anyone tell me are there any major issues with in this age group of cars i should be on the look out for?
Main dealers stamps and services are a must and i'll be getting a warranty and a full one at that.

sparkplug changes and belts changed,

look for play in the supercharger pulley.

Regular oil changes are a must,

Otherwise its a very nice motor to drive !

Can get it as both in some markets, have only seen it as a tdv8 supercharged in UK but people are known to import them, plus they were made available in the early stages as petrol like the disco 3

TD v8 means Tubo diesel and you dont supercharge when there is a tubo fitted and the petrol version is supercharged

Hi
i think this thread is a little confusing, i and looking for Either a TDV8 OR Supercharged?
in a 08 - 09 plate
i have had a td6 and it nearly broke me with the issues
are the newer engine / gearboxes any better ? do they have the same sort of problems?

I have an 08 3.6 TDV8 and was in the same mind when upgrading from my 03 TD6 , gear box is a ZF unit and there are no problems reported , there have been some reports of turbo failures and EGR related problems but not to many , quite a few alternators also reported as going between the 80-100k mark and the usual suspension bush niggles ,I've had mine nearly a year now bought it on 120k miles , changed the battery ,out of choice I replaced all the brake pads and refurbed the 2 front brembo calipers with £20 kit off e bay , and put 2 new tyres on it , a fast flashing indicator problem which has ended up with changing the light control module for a second hand one for £50 , and £180 for a new back light after somebody cracked it .
as for the car they are head and shoulders above the TD6 in terms of drive and performance the interior is a bit nicer aswell but thats just my opinion I'll be keeping mine for another 4 years then getting a late model 4.4TDV8 . as for a 4.2 Supercharged not heard of any problems worth writing about apart from the mpg other people quote 15-17 mpg I average around 23 in the oil burner.

Birchy thanks so much for that its really put my mind at ease,
mpg on the supercharged wont really worry me as i wont be doing that many miles in the motor
i'll be shopping next weekend so watch this space

The only thing to look for on the 07 to 10 plate is, everything! You need a full or comprehensive service history. What has been replaced, & take note of any previous engine work. If you don't like using garages get yourself a proper diagnostic kit from blackbox solutions. You will need it.

I bought a 4.2 S/c 2007 over 2 years ago and have had a few issues most known about at purchase drivers climate seat needed new parts mine had a fuel burning heater which needed replacing and door handle covers needed replacing and the biggy a new gearbox under warranty - the gearbox issue is interesting it was a problem with a solenoid but they change the whole gearbox also in the 2 years odd I have done 52k miles and apart from above and a few tyres it has been brilliant. Have a search on full fat RR loads of stuff about the 3.6 as well but to be honest the 3.6 needs to be run or you will have turbo and egr probs
Hope this helps
