Hi All here from South Africa
Thanks for accepting me as a new member. Been following a lot of your topics and the responses and all seems to be done in a "grown-up" way. Quite impressed.....

I have a question and really hope that someone can come up with a possible solution.
My Rangie has started building pressure in the cooling system and this started directly after the LR agents did work on the vehicle. Whatever they did, they had to drain the cooling system to do.
As long as I keep the RPM below about 2000, not much happening. The minute I exceed this, then it blows the cooling liquid from the overpressure release hole on the coolant bottle.
I have had the vehicle tested 3 times for possible cylinder head gasket problems, came up negative each time.
Is it possible that the thermostat might be the culprit?
Is it possible that I might have a airlock in the system?
Under normal town driving, there's no problems, no overheating and no leaking of cooling fluid. Only happens at highway speeds.
Vehicle has never overheated and no one seems to be able to solve this.
If anyone has any advice or comment, this would be greatly appreciated.

Datatek, I've never really checked. Will do so today after my trip home.
What I can confirm is that the top radiator hose gets quite hard with the pressure then I would crack the bottle cap to release the pressure.
When this is done, the coolant level in the bottle doubles.

That sounds like air in the system but could be HGF etc, need to do a test on the coolant for exhaust gasses.

Welcome to the madhouse mate, don't know where the grown up comment fits in;):D You'll get good advice,"humour" and a lot of pi$$ taking, hope you feel at home.;):D

Thanks everyone. All comments and advise is highly appreciated. Now back to business.....
Gas testing done 3 times. Twice by Silverton Radiators and once by LR. Negative on all 3 accounts. My Indie also suspects an airlock.

Every other action and activity is 100% normal. Vehicle does not overheat and performs exactly at it should.
Also no trace of water in the oils whatsoever.

Now I believe there is only 1 place to bleed the cooling system from, and that would be at the fuel cooler. Would this be correct?
Have any of you got a diagram showing this procedure as well as indicating the position of the fuel cooler

No come-backs on my previous request?
Have anyone ever had to bleed the TDV8 cooling system? Any tricks or tips that might help?
And if possible, a diagram showing where it should be bled from.....

Thanks.

Hi there, I'm not sure if this funnel is available in Sa but if you can use something to do the same thing then it will help. The idea of raising the coolant level above everything on the engine always allows the air to be manipulated.
While the engine is running, squeeze the pipes around the engine bay and heating assembly until your 100% sure there is no air.
The p38 is a relatively simple bleed job but just the one time it had me worried with the same issues!! Good luck :)
