Hi, I'm new to the forum and I've read a lot about turbo problems and would appreciate any advise that the members may have. Thanks in advance.

I have a RR Westminster 2012, TDV8 4.4, and near the end of the guarantee period had the near side turbo replaced. I think they actually had to fit two as the first one failed immediately, they had my car nearly four weeks. Land Rover kindly hired me a new Range Rover! Unfortunately the problems didn't end there as I had heavy smoke from the exhaust under heavy acceleration - usually up steep hills. Also I have now had the famous "limp mode" - Restricted Performance light on hard acceleration. This happened during its forth-year service at a sell-known main dealer. They tried to fix it but couldn't find the problem even with the involvement of the factory. After 11 hours, 8 provided free by the main dealer and 3 paid by me, I decided I had no faith in their ability to diagnose the problem and took it to the famous Rovertune. Rob and his team soon diagnosed the problem finding three turbo errors and reduced air flow with oil leaking excessively from the near side turbo. It took just 2.5 hours.

The main dealer told me that this was covered by a 24 month turbo warranty including parts and labour. They needed 3 days, but when I turned up for my booked appointment they then told me I must pay again from them to re-diagnose the problem and that Land Rover may or may not pay! I told them I was taking the car away and that they had completely wasted my time. I called Land Rover customer support but they told me to take it to another dealer and pay for another diagnosis as Rovertune weren't a main dealer. They weren't interested in my complaints about the main dealer.

I've booked it in to Rovertune for a new turbo and do not plan to have anything to do with Land Rover or their main dealers. Thank goodness for Rovertune.

BTW - it failed the Mot at 35,000 miles and 4 years with suspension problems and that's the mileage today!

Thanks for any suggestions and sorry the post is so long!

Unfortunately, These main dealer stories are all to common now. They guess at the problem, fire the parts gun at it, & then come up with feeble excuses as to while the problem exists.
As for the diagnostics fee's, they should reimburse you on these once the problem has been diagnosed.
