The problem is it seems to be jammed. I tried the
interior handle as well and a little nudge from a pry-
bar but it just won't move - anybody have any ideas??

Thanks

Common problem. Squirt WD40 into every orifice you can find, lock barrel,
down the side of the door and up under the handle itself. Leave for an hour
or two then keep working the handle. Eventually it should open. Then respray
all the bits you couldn't get to from the outside once you've got the door
open.
